9/1/2023 0 Comments Heart break me![]() ![]() I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. It was a cliffhanger so it should pick up right away. Hopefully my questions will be answered in the next book. I didn’t completely understand one part of the ending though. However the storylines about Thea’s sister and Atlas’s fear of commitment were extremely good. I give it a heat index of three out of five flames (□□□). The romance was steamy but not as steamy as many dark romance books I have read. The book certainly held my interest the entire time. ![]() Atlas proves to also be very possessive and when he considers something his, he doesn’t allow anyone to get in his way. He is tall, tatted and tantalizing, a combination which Theadora finds herself attracted to despite herself, even though she wants him out of her life as quickly as possible. However, his attraction to Theadora threatens his rules.Ītlas is brutal and cruel but also super hot. He has rules to live by and he never gets involved with women other than for immediate gratification. His father was abusive and merciless and Atlas vowed never to be like his father. He is not above having a woman use her body to get information he needs.Ītlas grew up with only his father after his mother left when he was just a baby. Like having them distract big winners at the casino so they start losing, or attend society functions and listen in on conversations of his rivals. He likes to always know what his enemies are up to and he uses people like Lucy and Theadora to his advantage. She can’t pay, so he has her work it off by doing tasks for him.Ītlas has his hands in a lot of illegal activity and owns some legitimate businesses as well, the main one is a Casino he built from the ground up. Atlas is holding the sister, Lucy and threatens to kill her if Theodora doesn’t pay him back the money. The Hero, Atlas is owed over a million dollars from the heroine Theadora’s sister. Whether you’re angry, relieved, wallowing in grief or gleefully moving on from your latest romantic split, allow Billboard‘s 55 favorite breakup songs to ease you through the aftermath.I enjoyed this dark romance which started out as a captive romance but ended up being more of a blackmail romance. Or better yet, take a cue from Ariana Grande and simply say to your ex, “Thank you, next.” Alternately, allow Beyoncé’s discography to remind you just how much you’re worth. Just ask Lizzo, whose self-love, leave-his-behind, booty-shaking bangers will transform listeners from heartbroken to happily single and ready to mingle. Hey, Billboard doesn’t judge.īut just as not all breakups are sad, neither are all breakup songs. Or god forbid, maybe you’ve even been dumped by someone you uhh … had an intimate moment with at a theater, a la “You Oughta Know” (which is absolutely, without a doubt, 1,000% on this list). ![]() Or, maybe you had to watch as your partner left you for the older blonde girl they had previously told you not to worry about, possibly right before you passed your driver’s license test. Maybe you, too, have had an ex hang on to your old scarf because it smells like you, even after calling you up again just to break you like a promise. It’s true: Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and SZA (who is Billboard’s 2023 Woman of the Year) just hit different once you’ve actually gone through the tender-hearted scenarios they so poignantly describe in their lyrics. When a relationship comes to a painful end, however, there is one bright side - you get to enjoy breakup songs in a way you might not have before. ![]()
